2004  Florida International Jet Rally

November 5 - 7, 2005
Lake Wales Airport  Lake Wales, Florida

The 11th annual FIJR brought a new meaning to our sport.  The town and surrounding area of Lake Wales was devastated by three hurricanes in six weeks during August and September.  The economic impact delivered by the many RC Jet Enthusiasts who visited the area for this years FIJR really made a difference.  The hotel and restaurant business along with other money spent by participants, and spectators have helped the local "folks" in a time of need.

Steve and I can't give enough thanks to: Tony Otte - Lake Wales City Manager along with his staff.  They went the extra mile to insure that we were able to conduct a safe and secure event at the Lake Wales Airport.  After all they have been through, and the problems they still were facing as the event approached their efforts were amazing.  Our good friend Betty Hill - Airport Manager and her staff bent over backwards to accommodate our needs.  The damage from the storms was particularly difficult for her skydiving business, as it was shut down for about two months.  Her operations and logistics that allowed for simultaneous operations this year was a real trick.  She is simply SUPER!!!

Four perfect days of weather, and a gentle breeze down the runway made for non-stop flying.  We advertise uninterrupted flying, and this year was another example of why this is "The Pilots Jet Rally".  No BS, No Politics, No Soapbox - just FLY!!!!  The whole weekend was great, and there was little in the way of problems.  Our vendors had plenty of visitors, and business seemed to be brisk.  As we wrapped up things on Sunday we once again recognized Betty Hill (airport manager), and her continued support for this great event.  Look for us again November 3 - 6, 2005.  You asked for it - You got it.  4 Full days in 05 !!!
